Started this, this morning...what a PITA to just change the arm. At least I didn't have to take everything apart, just needed about 3/8" more clearance to change. Lettin my sweat dry, then the primary goes back together. Might be able to do the first fire on Thursday. Depends on how the heat and the wind goes, it's been brutal here. At 11am today it was 102*, today's supposed to be cooler, but it doesn't look that way so far...HUMID too. I know that 50% isn't chit to some, but when you're used to 15% at these temps it's horrid....been over 110 for over a week now.
Fluids, a bath, and a whole bunch of break-in procedures left. Took me a couple of hours to find the last hardware bag to finish puttin her back together, guess it's been a while...lol. Hopefully I'll have a video tomorrow of the 1 minute initial start, and maybe the first heat cycle.
Absolutely!
Not too many places that you can follow a thread (project), be gone for a while, then come back and Alma says "I'm still here honey".
We had a slight delay on the build......lol.
Well she's washed and dried, oil in the tank and primary, couple gallons of fuel in the tank, oiled the cylinders a bit and spun her till the oil light went out. Just waiting on the battery to get full up again, cause it won't spin if it's not.....lol. She'll do a first fire today.
First attempt to start was an utter failure.....lol. I think my battery is trashed, it's over 3 years old and was the cheapest thing I could find at the time. She coughed a few times, but the engine really never got spinng very well, like a weak battery. Next attempt will be with Red, the F350, running with jumper cables on too.
Guess I need to find a battery......now do I go lithium and move it under the seat? Or go lithium and stay on the side? Or just go with a "good" brand and find the highest CCA? I've "heard" that I need to do something to the old charging system to make it lithium "friendly". But I haven't done much research on it yet.
