Schex I've read and heard about pinning the old bags. Drilling a small hole in the little tab and most I've seen are using like a old hog rings. Some are using key chain rings. It doesn't allow you to completely remove the lid but they won't come flying off.

I completely disassembled both donor harnesses, I had piles of wires grouped with like terminals, a box of connectors, a pile wire sheaths, empty fuse boxes. Then I custom built the harness very similar to a factory harness. There's tons of wiring in a Harley Ultra harness I didn't need, all the audio, intercom, efi engine management, data bus. This took about a week of evenings to build, plenty hours & beer.

This has saved my bacon a few times. Our old latches aren’t great anyway.

Default Impressive work

I have a 92 I want to update to the new guages and fairing. This definitely answered my question on if it is possible and what may be needed

The bike slowly developed a little hot start problem, not always, but when it did buck the starter, I just had to let it cool for 10 minutes, and it would fire up.
Then I noticed the battery voltage at idle was lower than normal, rev it and it would come up.
Hopefully this is related to the sporadic hot start problem.

Found the rotor stripped the splines, luckily, it didn't contact the stator.

I went back with a rotor with built in spacers, the spline area is now .470" thick, and has encapsulated magnets.
Now the stack up is only the rotor and one .060" thick shim, less chance to spine anything, and I upped the comp torque to 160 ft lbs.

It's been a long time since I've been into the primary, you know your clutch is doing OK when it's that clean inside, that Evolution Industries clutch basket is a nice piece. I use Shell Rotella, changed with every engine oil change.

Blacked out the primary cover while it was off.
Didn't feel like dragging out the powdercoat equipment, so I painted the primary cover.
I'm liking the Appliance Epoxy paint more and more, it's easy to use, no primer, and tough.
Lightly glass beaded the chrome, then I used the oven just to get the cover and paint can up to about 75 degrees, as it was 50 in the shop, but I didn't cure it in the oven, I didn't want to knock the gloss down any, used propane heaters that kept it at 100 degrees for a couple hours.
It matches the previously powdercoated derby and inspection covers color, but with a better finish.

Man that looks great. I've never heard of appliance epoxy paint. Where did you get it and is it expensive? What kind of prep is involved to get the chrome ready for applying it?

About $8, you can get it almost anywhere that sells Rust-oleum spray paint, I lightly glass beaded the chrome to etch it, then cleaned it good, they don't recommend using primer.
Google it, and also search here on HDF, the lowers in this picture is painted.

It's been about quite awhile since I got it, 6 years maybe, I want to say it was between 3&400, that bish is $555 now, 90-93, 37 sprocket, 84tooth

Have no idea where I bought the one that's been getting reused forever, I did buy a gasket in '15 when I bought the $99 compensator from JP cycles (which is still in excellent shape), never had to use it yet, V-Twin manufacturing 15-0239

Thanks. Difficult to find that style that actually fits and still has the extra bar @ 10 o'clock to the clutch.
