1990 Ultra Updates
Then I noticed the battery voltage at idle was lower than normal, rev it and it would come up.
Hopefully this is related to the sporadic hot start problem.
Found the rotor stripped the splines, luckily, it didn't contact the stator.
I went back with a rotor with built in spacers, the spline area is now .470" thick, and has encapsulated magnets.
Now the stack up is only the rotor and one .060" thick shim, less chance to spine anything, and I upped the comp torque to 160 ft lbs.
It's been a long time since I've been into the primary, you know your clutch is doing OK when it's that clean inside, that Evolution Industries clutch basket is a nice piece. I use Shell Rotella, changed with every engine oil change.
Blacked out the primary cover while it was off.
Didn't feel like dragging out the powdercoat equipment, so I painted the primary cover.
I'm liking the Appliance Epoxy paint more and more, it's easy to use, no primer, and tough.
Lightly glass beaded the chrome, then I used the oven just to get the cover and paint can up to about 75 degrees, as it was 50 in the shop, but I didn't cure it in the oven, I didn't want to knock the gloss down any, used propane heaters that kept it at 100 degrees for a couple hours.
It matches the previously powdercoated derby and inspection covers color, but with a better finish.
