You do great work my friend, since your heading backwards in years of baggers, think you would enjoy a Shovel bagger project, can't get enough of riding mine.
The stripped rotor splines didn't help the intermittent hot start problem.
I finally got around to checking ACR's. Compression test with carb at WOT, both cyl's where 150psi with the ACR's active, 200psi without, no problems there.
I installed travel limiters in the lifters, that did it, turns over easy now.
S&S states 10-20 miles for lifters to stop rattling, at 9 miles, they where still tapping, but not as loud, I ran it up to the rev limiter in 4th & 5th and they shut up all at once like hitting a switch, 10 miles.
The bike feels like it's got more pep.
All is well.

Hold it a second, Rev limiter and fifth gear?? That must have been a sweet buck 30... Nice... And I thought I was the only one to hit them numbers.... Or crazy enough..
The nice thing about travel limiters is that it doesn't let the lifter bleed down too much creating an earlier IVC close which prompts more compression. Glad it's all quieted down.. I'm Sure it feels good..

Correct, my mistake, it had to be 3rd & 4th, the speedo was around 110 when I let off, limiter is 6250,
I finally got around to painting the saddlebags and side covers. I had to repair some damage from when the lid flew off, and cover the holes from removing the emblems/reflectors and rails.
Bodywork, paint then cut & buff
Replaced the hinge clip hardware, sure was nice to have access to the rivet tool.
The clips were worn half way through, drilling & pinning them wouldn't help if they broke there.
New weather stripping for the lids.
I stole this idea from Hossamania on HTT.
It's shrink wrap for fishing pole handles, from Amazon, 1.6 meter length, 40mm dia. for about 8 bucks.
Installed on stock grips, I'm liking it so far.

Also, was it a hassle to replace the weather stripping in the bags? I have a bag on my Sporty that needs new weather strips.
