Good info. Can you change the sliders without taking the fork legs off the bike? Seems like when I went by the shop, the sliders were off, but the fork tubes were still in place. I had bought some chrome sliders off ebay that didn't work. He showed me how there was too much chroming crud on the inside of the sliders to let them slide on the fork tubes.

It's not the commonly accepted practice to do that, but yes, you absolutely can R&R the sliders (and seals and bushings) without pulling the forks... if you know what you're doing and how to do it.

Impossible to tell from only one angle of a photo, but I've been thinking the whole time the tank might simply be cocked to the left. As if part of the harness is on top rather than on the side of the frame not letting it sit down.

It wouldn't have to be jacked up at the front mount tab (tilted to the left) much at all to make it look like it does in the only photo.

Not a fan of doing it that way, since I want to check the tubes to see if they are bent or not, and with them off and checking for run out of them in a lathe, good time to polish the OD of the tubes if they need to be addressed as well. As for slightly acceptable bent but still usable tubes, allows me to mark the bent sides, so when they are put back in the tipple trees, bends are together/not cattywampus to each other.

I'm going to check that as soon as I get a minute
