Dumb mistake - installed extra umbrella valve seal
My 97 Fatboy, which I’m getting ready to sell, had a leak from a blown rocker box gasket. When I changed the gaskets on the leaking cylinder I did something dumb and accidentally installed two umbrella valve seals on it (one in each hole). Didn’t dawn on me until I’d put it all back together and test rode it.
The leak is gone, but do I need to tear it down again to remove that extra umbrella? Not sure what the ramifications are of having it in there.
I just replaced both of mine because the front was misting quite a bit.
The rear seemed to be doing fine but the umbrella was in the wrong hole so I wouldn't worry about having two in there.
