Hell we have a member here of Abate for a very long time that is up in his 80's and still rides and organizes fund Raising functions throughout Suffolk County Long Island.. Might I say he is highly respected.. So please don't Question me ..
If you have problem being questioned, youre definitely in the wrong place.
Good day.

You really shouldn't speak for the OP.. just because he's 75 doesn't mean a thing.. By Questioning me your saying he's to old which is your opinion and that's fine.. Maybe your to old who knows and who cares just don't assume he's at the end of an Era based on your opinion... ...
And thank you, I will have a great day... 62 tomorrow, retirement day ..

I happen to have one of each. When I work on the Evo, it's pretty much plug and play. On the shovel, it's more of a millwright kind of job. Sometimes parts have to be fitted/filed/finessed into place. Also, there is a more maintenance to be done on the shovel. Not a lot but more. As far as reliability, my shovel will chug down the road all day long and never miss a beat. With any bike, if you take care of it, it will take care of you.
As far as troubleheads, I mean shovelheads go, the 1974 1200CC was probably the most reliable, best of the class one. By 1979, the 80CI was the worst.
My 79 is a remarkable scooter ... of course the day after I bought it I took it completely apart ( to a bare frame ) and started from scratch ... That may have something to do with it ... That was almost 40 years ago ... It still has a strong heart and doesn't leak a drop ;>)
