This key does NOT want to move. The oil pump drive gear behind it will slide back-forth a tiny bit so I know the key isn't wedged in by that. Any tricks to knocking that key loose?
Cold chisel and a hammer is what I have used on like keys.
Now done with some care and patience have done a number of them in the similar situations .
Doing it this way most times did require a new key.
That is a not a standard woodruff key, it's a "T" key. Need to get under the end with something thin like an old kitchen knife or thin chisel tapping gently with a small hammer. Pry it up or at least get it to move then tap it back down a few times, work it out. Some heat from a torch might help if it's been set in there with Loctite.
Good info guys thanks. I've gotten it to rock back and forth by tapping on one end and then the other. It's still doesn't want to come out. The manual didn't show it being a 'T' key. I will try getting under it and prying it up. Was thinking of applying heat as well.
GOOD JOB...!!
Patience is your friend. My Father was a machinist. One of his most frequently used pieces of advice to me, his "no patience kid" was: "Don't Force Nothing".
Was it just a tight friction fit, or did you find remnants of threadlocker in there..??
