The whole idea of the Thunder jet is to go with a smaller main so you can hit your AFRs and transitions more accurately for the RPM range from 2800 to 6500.. And yes the ThunderJet usually kicks in around 4,200 RPM. The nice thing with the Wego 3 is that you can data log everything and bring it up on your computer and you can see your AFRs through the RPM range because it's samples three times to five times every second..
The Ultima 127" you mentioned, heads cut down to 10.8-1 and ports cleaned up professionally. The stock cam coming with the 127" is radical with a compression bump, uses a different rocker ratio tho. Super G or R1 with the throat opened up for street manors and Tjet tuned with a Wego3 will do anything you need.
Can count on 1 starter drive a year, need a real good oil cooler, hell of a clutch, underwear if not having good brakes. A S&S 640 is actually softer than a stock Ultima cam in this engine and a really good cam for the street. Probably play around with a Redshift cam in this setup and get a little more butt pucker but just depends on how crazy one person wants to be
