Only difference is the thread for the air filter attachment we have the reducer to do that but can can use a 1/2 X 13 by 1 inch cheap bolt like the junk at lowes Home Depot - cut it around 1/2 inch long but drill and tap a 5 / 16 X 18 thread into the center - then hacksaw cut a slot for a screw driver for the install
do not red loc tite seen that its not falling out the air filter brace keeps it in place
doing it the other way more drilling and enlarging needed but both ways will work everything fits - the other way you need those rocker boxes for the different breathing
Can a top breather head be used on a older bottom breather motor? And if so will the rocker covers interchange.
Yes. If you use non breather rocker cover assembly, you will definitely have to let it breath on the bottom. You can also let top and bottom breathe together.
When using late model heads on a case breather engine, don`t use the hollow bolts to mount the backing plate, use regular bolts to close off the breather.
You can use head breather rockers on a case breather with no issues, leave the umbrella valves out.

I have just rebuilt an engine that has both, im curious why do you need to take the umbrella valves out?
