You can pick up a drag link tool from sears. It looks like a large screwdriver and is about the size of a socket. You use it on 1/2 inch drive ratchet and come in different sizes for about $6. Replace it with an acorn nut type after you get it off.

if you type drag link tool in the search tab on the top of page 2 links will come up..one has the picture.. if you can not wait... i have removed it in the past with a small fat flat srewdriver tapped very very lightly sidewides..tightly...then used some channel lock type pliers to grab the screwdiver...others have used a cut down allen wrench sideways...drag link i think would be the best....if it is almost stripped...consider backing-off untill you can get the drag link or similar..because once it is stripped it will become more difficult..

Had the same problem1997 Dyna. Used an impact driver and it came loose very easily.

Use an impact driver with the largest flat bit you can. Then buy a new plug and o-ring, and don't overtighten it!
