Went from EV27 to EV13
I thought I would provide some feedback for anyone who is considering throwing one in their Evo motor.
I put the EV27 in my stripped down 1995 FLSTC about a year ago and whilst it did feel like it gave the old 80" a much needed boost in acceleration, it never really "came on" early enough in the rev range to be useful unless I was already out on the motorway or cruising at mid RPMS. I chose this cam because it seemed everyone loved it and Andrews advertise it kicks in from 1500-6000rpm. The reality is that it didnt really feel like it came on until 2500-3000rpm and when you live near a city with lots of hills, slow moving traffic and most of your riding requires low down quickly available torque, it left the engine feeling very lethargic and a bit empty.
I dont like to thrash engines and I definitley didnt feel comfortable winding that old motor up to high RPMs to get the most out of it, so swapped to an EV13 last month despite hearing it was a 2 up bagger cam. The bike feels much more at home now and is back to being a pleasure to ride. Powerband comes on pretty much immidiatley and no more having to drop a gear every time I approach a small hill or a corner. Fuel economy has gone up and the engine even seems to sound better. It does run out of steam around 5000rpm but im hardly ever in that range and dont need to be with the low down torque available with this cam. I highly rate the EV13 and am glad I made the swap. I would recommend it to anyone who is replacing their stock cam and wants a decent hike in power but wants to retain the low down stump pulling feel that Harley is known for.
I put the EV13 in my 97 RK, way back in 97, 107k miles and she still pulls like a mule. I like it so much that I decided to put one in a stripped down 99 Fatboy It makes the Fatboy a joy to putt around on in these Virginia mountains!
For my riding 1 and 2 up it was the best bang for the bucks.
My thoughts of it you could pull stumps with it and cruise at 85 Mph all day long.
If I was on a 2 lane doing 65 -70 and needed to pass someone it was little no problem.
The EV13, some mild head work and a good tune it served us very well.

I imagine it would be great in an FXR or a hard ridden FXST that spends a lot of time on empty straights but that low down ev13 torque is just addictive.
Interestingly I left the stock andrews gear on it when I put the 13 in the motor. I previously used a press to put my stock gear on the EV27 but wanted to see how the off-the-shelf gear would fare. So far so good, a little bit of whine when cold but as soon as the motor warms up it is quiet as a mouse.
