I think I have narrowed down an issue to wheel spacers.
A while back I got new tires installed (not at dealer)and they lost a spacer. Took to Harley dealer for a fix and the tech said he had one laying around. For a while I have had a squeak when depressing front forks (high pitch metal on metal). I have changed for oil- no fix. Visually it looks like the fork and tube are touching but cant tell exactly. Eventually I started to question the "I have one laying around" comment. Maybe the one he had was not the right size-
Anyone have a part number handy for the front wheel spacers for a 1998 Road Glide FLTRI?
When I purchased my 1989 FLTCU (knowing it would need MUCH work) the first thing I noticed was the front brakes were binding. I knew the seller had gotten new tires put on and I looked around at the fork...noticed the right disk was badly out of alignment and would not release one of it's pads. I took the wheel off and fussed around...finally I realized the spacer was on the wrong side! Put it on the right side and poof...everything lined up! The jackleg that put the tires on probably was a car mechanic that didn't mess with bikes.
