Of course, that's basic knowledge. But the question from Jackie Paper was why is it you see 12V across the posts if the circuit breaker is bad. I was speculating because I don't know. I didn't even know you'd test for a bad breaker that way on a Harley. I just replace them when they act up. So what's the answer?

ahh... I misread that and missed the switch being on. My bad. Still, I've never tested for that and, as with a suspect fuse, I just replace

The meter reads the voltage differential between the probes on the meter.

Dan is correct in the fact if it really is blowing and all is good down stream on what it is driving, then it may be easier as cheap as it is to get another.

But it's real easy to actually test if it was open. Not so much if the problem is down stream. Then you need to amp test what's popping it.

I assume this is a cooling off reset breaker.

I was the head of the property committee of a small church. Lead because I fixed everything and also because I didn't do all the hoops to secure funds.

One of the huge heat pumps was not running. Couple checks showed no power on the 100 AMP breaker. I put my analog AC load meter on it . Reset it and it just would not stay in. Everything was off not calling for cool. Problem was my meter was to slow to catch the the load.

That huge breaker was pretty expensive. I ate that one. The compressor was burnt up and one leg of the 120 was ground.

Also, the red wire should be by itself. The Voltage regulator wire should be on the battery side. Those circuit breakers are also auto reset. If its not resetting, it’s bad.
