[QUOTE=Jhurt;21300070]good question, its a pretty reliable system. In my case it couldnt keep up with engine mods. If your bike is stock you SHOULD be able to get the parts you need[/QUOTE
Bike is stock, with exception of trike conversion.
Hello, Carl. My problem is that I am unable to keep my cold idle set. Works for a couple of starts and then "disappears". All linkage to throttle body is tight, and clean. TPS set correctly. I have gone thru the setup procedure many times with the same results. Cable adjustments set correctly for full open and full close on throttle plates. Keep everything clean. Parts are getting very difficult to find also.
As a byline, tired of replacing the cam position sensor. Gone thru 2 factory and 2 Standard motor product ones, and needing to replace again. One a year, and do not put a lot of miles on the bike.
Always ride double. Always maintain correctly. Do not run over 65-70, 90% hiway/ twisties riding. 57k on bike. Trike conversion. No hard, fast riding. I'm 70, been there done that. Ken
Cold idle is pretty much a crapshoot. I have about 3 different procedures and one of them involves a priest. I don't use the procedure in the book. However; the cam position sensor issues you're having are pretty worrisome. I replaced one when I blew my engine. That was at 89k. One a year is bad. I don't blame you for wanting to switch to carb.

Carl, IDK if the MM system puts extra load on the CPS or not. Thinking somehow a heat-related issue. Or maybe ECM weirding out ? Next sensor will have a piece of that thin foilbacked insulation between it and the timing plate. Ken
Very unusual for that cam sensor to require so many replacements.
What is the temperature of that cone?
On a side note, has the engine temperature sensor ever been replaced?

Don't know the temp, im. ETS has been replaced twice, first time 7 years ago, last time 4 years ago.
