If it is replaced HD scrap the case and your numbers are stamped in the new one.
The second number you see is normal. I have a 1996 sitting right here and know darn well the case has never been touched.
It has a number in the same place. They all did. Most never see it because the do not look for it

I am from the "didn't look for it" crowd... Pad is there but, Not shaved flat, and No Numbers on 1994 FXR... Shaved flat, with Numbers on 1999 Softail (Evo)
FWIW Did Not check Belly Numbers...as I don't crawl on floor anymore!!!
Hi guys, I've been trying to find information online about a casting number on my Evo block, but it doesn't seem to be the standard engine number that matches the VIN number on the chassis etc.
I know my engine number, and my VIN number, but this is an additional one.
I've attached a photo of the number in question which is located on the front lower side of the block on the left-hand side. 1996 Dyna.
Is anyone able to just tell me what this number means are where I might be able to find out what it breaks down to ?
The number is : 3496019005
Thanks in advance.
Peter
Sorry for the late reply but I don’t check the Evo section often even though I myself have a 99 FXST. Near the front of your case is a crankcase production number (CPN) and it breaks down as follows:
34 is a code number representing the engine type and in this instance the code number indicates international (export) 1340cc Evo with carb.
96 indicates model year.
019 indicates day of production. For example 001 would indicate January 1.
005 indicates number that day.
If the R-H case is original to the left case then it should have the same CPN but it will be inside the gear compartment and therefore not visible on an assembled engine.
BTW my left CPN and my engine VIN are in the same place as yours and there were at least two H-D Service Bulletins issued in 1993 regarding the latest engine VIN stamping. There were two changes associated with the new procedure: the location of the engine VIN was changed slightly; and the VIN was now pin-stamped by a machine (in a noticeable dot pattern).
Extra ID may be at the back of both your cases? If both cases have exactly the same extra ID and it’s authentic then it's another indication the cases were matched at the factory.
In your frame VIN the first character may be 1 or 5. There seems to be some confusion about this because I heard international should begin with 5 but my frame VIN starts with 1 and I know it’s authentic because I bought the bike new from a Harley dealer here in West Aust.
The frame VIN check digit can be worked out using the formula below.

My bike was originally purchased new in Australia, but carries the 1HD frame number…..BUT, the export code on the casing means that it was to be sold here. So many peo0le think their bikes are private imports, but this explains the numbers.
