Started chasing wires and came across this little guy. What are the chances this is draining the battery causing the regulator to work overtime.

You didn't get me straight was this a new regulator added with new battery?


That's the positive to the battery. No fuse if that was to touch.

Zero. Although it should be repaired to prevent a short circuit and to protect it from the elements.

Nope,, It might produce smoke and flame when you hit the starter button tho..

Looking at the regulator, I'd say the wire broke loose from inside due to corrosion making the connection resistive. The poor connection cause the section to overheat and melt.
