Default Help Identify Evo

Hi y'all, I recently traded my 97 short box silverado for $1800 cash and this evo. I put another $300 into carb rebuild and fork seals and brake pads. This thing runs amazing. I don't really know much about evo softails. It is titles as ASPT (assembled from parts) I need the right side gas tank, assuming it is 2 piece, I haven't taken apart enough to see if is two piece.
Can anyone help with what years I should look for on a tank. I plan on painting it myself but there are two large dents on the right tank on top where the prev owner dropped a chop saw on it. Any help would be appriciated, oh and if it is two piece or isn't, anyone have a nice clean tank I could buy and paint. I plan on painting it gloss black metallic. Also need a sissy bar for it.

It looks like you have a vin tab on the frame, run the vin, it was probably a Heritage or Fat Boy to begin with.
that tank could be factory or aftermarket just take the dash off and you will see if it’s Fat Bob two pieces or one piece.

Post the engine serial number and the number stamped on the neck. Then you will get a lot of input as to what you have.

Possible that white tag is a number issued by the state that supplied the "assembled from parts" paperwork

Yep, soft tail type frame (which could be aftermarket/ may not have HD vin), check engine since could be after market with no vin), and as for rest of bike, if no HD vin on motor or frame, then god only knows what parts are on the rest of the bike.

If frame not HD, but aftermarket and has vin number and manufacturer of frame, may be able to use that data to see what the frame was made for (heritage or fat boy), and should at least give you an idea of what tank on the bike.

As for built from parts, can't really call any of it a OEM HD to start with, and on something like that as titles as ASPT, would look hard and deeper for any HD markings or over stamped HD numbers, since although a parts build Bike, would question/Make dam sure that no parts on the bike, from a stripped stolen bike to start with.
And just because title has it as a 97 (guessing the year of the frame), does not mean that the parts on the bike are from the same year, or even HD to start with.

The front fender is a beast. I have a 1996 Fatboy and the right side of the engine does not look anything like mine. Mine is 100% factory.
I hope he returns and post the Stamped VIN and engine serial number.

DMV might have did that if the original vin frame was salvaged.

Post 90-92 softail, dual tanks, any from an evo softail will work but I suggest finding a set. You don' know if yours are stock or aftermarket and they tend to not match well when mixed.
