Default Replacing oil seal and spacer

1988 FLHTC, replacing the oil seal and spacer in the primary (crank shaft) just wondering if there is a consensus on a particular brand(s)?

OEM is going to be your safest bet.

Spacer 24002-70 is n/a from HD. Best quality/price will be the Eastern Motorcycle Parts replacement. JP has them. (DO NOT confuse with Eastern Performance)

12026B oil seal $6.51 from a dealer is bet choice.

Well got in there and started removing stuff, went ahead and pulled the stator just so I could get a good look at the engine casing, glad I did as the wires coming out of the stator were cooked, so I will be replacing that also, same question any consensus on a stator? OEM not available.

Unless it's been changed, that's a 22 amp system. You can go aftermarket for the stator or switch to a 32 amp - but you'll need the matching regulator.

Either way, if you go 32 amp, you DO NOT need a different rotor. The same OEM rotor was used on up into the 90's with the 32 amp stuff.

Is there a way to know if it's OEM or aftermarket? Also how would you go about determining the amp rating?

Photo would help, but if stator still ohms out correctly, does not show signs of problems to ground, will be a lot cheaper to just repair the wire lead problem (re-solder them with heat shrink), if the coils winding are still good/show no signs of them burning up themselves.

Upon further inspection some of the winding's look really crispy, almost like crinkled paint, just thinking go ahead and replace just for piece of mind sake.

Generally speaking, with bearings and seals, either OEM as you know it will work, or anything with a brand name. Not many manufacturers deliberately make bad oil seals, there is no money in it.
