Ultima 107" motor on a 90 model Bagger
I took my 80", sent the heads andthe jugsto Shortblock Charlie in Tempe, Az. http://www.motorcyclemachine.com/ He did the heads, big valves intake and exhaust, bored the jugs .05 over. Shaved the heads, .30 cometic gaskets, flat top pistons, adjustable push rods, ev27 cam, new gaskets through out. Seem like i spent around $1200 on all the stuff plus shipping. Then I got a friend that is a hd mech. to help me do the rebuild, I gave him a couple hundred for his direction. So about $1500 spent. Rode it about a year, about 75 hp- 80 tq on a race simulated dyno. ( a dyno that travels to different HD dealers). This motor ran good, pulled hard from 2000 rpm to red line, but i still wanted more. ( it's the nature of the diease) I can never get enough of anything. Anyway, that another story. What I am trying to say is that $1500 i spent on the 80" could havespent onthe new motor that I (the bank)bought anyway. I just wonder if Charlie could do anything with these Ultima heads ?
Its a diease i tell you, its a diease!
Its all in how fast you want to get to the speed you want to go and how much you are willing to spend to get there.
later..............
What can be done ? I want to get there fast, but I don't want to launch it !
On your bagger with the 113, what did you do with the clutch ? Goat what did you do on your softail ? Heavier clutch spring, add an extra clutch disc or go with rivera or barrnett clutch pack ? I can't seem to keep my clutch adjusted. I adjusted it w/1/8 in freeplay and within a week its where i nearly don't have a clutch again. I may need to go ahead and buy new clutch disc and install the new heavier diapham spring.
Any suggestions ??
