Hey Goat; is that the natural cast motor? Paco is that the polished one? Is is harder to keep the polished one clean as opposed to the natural one, I would think? I gotta silver bike, and if that natural cast is that silver it would go with my set up nicely, but so would the polished one, always been a little partial to chrome, but the natural one looks good, more silver in it, than the HD casts.
lionsm13,
I went with the black and chrome motor. It looks good to me.I have heard the polished motor runs a little hotter than the black or natural. This could be false, but I wanted the black anyway. The compression releases are nothing to worry about. You must be going with the complete package drive train if there is a extra clutch plate in the package. All I bought was the motor. I wanted the 6 speed gear set but they were out of stock when I ordered. At this time I don't think Ultima makes a complete tranny to fix the old tour bikes. I may be wrong, but I can't find them listed in the Jireh catalog or the ultima web site.
lionsm13,
I am running an oil cooler. The motor can with an owners manual and it suggested putting an oil cooler on these engines. I bought a Jagg Horizontal mount J1270 for my dresser. On pg 10 of the owners manual it talks about oil coolers. The first url gives you all the info on the motors. The second is the owners manual download. http://www.ultimaproducts.com/107engine113.html http://www.ultimaproducts.com/Engine...gineManual.pdf
lionsm13,
I am not running an oil cooler. I did by a oil temperature gauge that went in place of the dip stick. I am not sure how accurate they are but my oil never went over 200 degrees while moving. After it was broke in it did hit 230 while sitting in traffic but cooled down once I got moving. I will add an oil cooler if the summer temps warrant I need it.
Oh yeah, BTW; just out of curiouslity did ya'll get any better brakes considerin' all the added ponies? It would seem logical, wouldn't it? LOL!!
At least for me, at any rate.
You may have said that as a joke, but I actually did. Not really because of the add power, but just because I wanted a little better brakes. I bought some 2001 + brakes on ebay and mounted them on the ol'dresser. Work pretty damn good.
I said that jokingly, but in all seriousness, I don't think stopping power is a joke at all. I will or probably should pony up and get some hawg halters or the equivalent, I would think;just wondering if you guys upgraded your brakes too, besides the bigger motor? I like the looks of those 360's, but hear they're about a thousand bucks. Look like ya don't even have brakes.
