Ultima 107" motor on a 90 model Bagger
Good luck and let us know how you make out, I ended up doing almost everything more than once to get it right but glad I did it. I think wmattert tag line lists "97 Ultra with 127 Ultima (I know, I am nuts)" so he may be the one that can answer best. When I was considering upgrading I was also concerned about actual usage and was afraid that a 120/127 would give me more problems with over heating. I think your current exhaust will be OK, but will get louder. On our '90 flhtcu and 113 the stock style stator worked just fine, and I already had a 1.4 Ultima starter.
It would be nice if HDforums could set up a wiki so we could all add to a howto for upgrading to Ultima engine. A wiki would make it easier to find the answers.

if the 6 speed builders tranny is not available should i get the softail tranny and gut it? *** Yes. Dropping the gearing down a little with the 5 speed works good also if your after rpm reduction at highway speed. You will have plenty of torque to get the bike rolling.
what ultima starter actually fits the 95? *** I'd recommend an ALL ***** 1.4kw, Terry Cables, New battery & keep your bike on a tender faithfully.
can i use my existing oem stator, charging system? *** Yes.
will my current true duel kit (oem exhaust split) exhaust still work? *** It will work but severely hold back the output of the engine. The 127" is very exhaust sensative & requires a large exhaust.
read something about fill spouts and spacers for tranny? *** The 6 speeds with a larger trap door require an oil fill spacer.
what new oil lines and gaskets will I need? *** The original lines can be retained if there in good shape? Flush the system well & install a LARGE oil cooler. A new outer primary gasket is needed & a Pingel hi flow fuel valve & new fuel line is a good idea.
what type of air/fuel meter? *** ???
what have i forgot already? *** A STOUT clutch will be needed. I've had 127" baggers humble some clutches easily. The big torque & heavy bike are hard on them.
Thanks,
Bruiser
Just for anyone that might want to know. To install a new oil pump on an Ultima 107" one has to remove the engine from the frame on a 1995 ultra. There just isn't enough room no matter how one tries to do it. I took the pump and dissassembled it and tried to put the pump shaft in and then reassemble the pump......notta. Anyway, i did get the old pump apart finally. Have not determinded what happen. The drive gear was locked to the shaft, the pump gears were locked to the shaft and one of the idiler gears was locked on the shaft ???? Pump drive shaft was broken in half and one staight SOB to remove. There was no trash in the oil pan nor in the pump. any ideas ?
later...............
I do hope I can pass emissions and any other regulations with a non-epa engine - I don't know how it all works. Your bike really looks great in the photos pajoe, the red, chrome and whitewalls. I went back in my email history to figure out what I did with my exhaust. I have the Fullsac Performance True Dual conversion kit with B&E SUPER FLOW performance mufflers, 2 inch I believe. I do think the bike will sound noticebly better with a 120 ci engine.
We are using the 4" cvo mufflers with 1.75 Fullsac baffles. The mufflers used with the 80" were too loud on the 113" . I am still thinking I would like to try a 2 into 1 system for better performance but afraid I won't like it for everyday use. I tried true duals but decided to go back to stock style headers but do have 1 piece of the Fullsac true-dual conversion so I can use the front stock header off an '08 with O2 sensor along with the rear pipe from a Vance & Hines true dual setup, just in case I do go back to the true dual setup.
I did contact my insurance company to let them know the bike has a bigger engine, and made a photocopy of the MSO to carry in the tourpak just in case I get anywhere it is needed. The entire process was new to me, including transferring money to pay for the engine. I would not hesitate doing it again and I recommend Jireh to everyone... There were mistakes made, but none too serious, just took time to do it over again.
