Hello, I would be grateful if someone give me a complete list of parts needed to convert a 1996 Magneti Marelli Road King to a carburetor. Thanks
Call zippers performance they have everything you need in a kit and are great to work with. I went thru them for my 98 ultra when I converted it over last winter
Plenty of threads on this, just do some searching. I have posted a pic of the wiring diagram in a bunch of threads, but an unsure where I have it saved. If I find it, I'll post it here
I did this a while back on a Road King. While most swap to the standard, carb ignition and other parts, I ran into a guy who made it much simpler by retaining the factory MM ECM and allowing it to handle the ignition duties. In this case, a Pingel carb petcock adapter for one hole in the tank, and a plug in the other, comes together in the kit. The pingel petcock. A carb intake manifold, preferably without the map sensor flange, a CV40 carb and appropriate intake. Open the tank, discard all the EFI stuff, button up, retaining the factory fuel float for the fuel gauge. Off it goes.
This is great information. Purchased a like new 99' FLHRCI last yr w/ <10k miles. It runs very well w/ the MM fuel injection but may want to modify it w/ a AndrewsTW21 or TW26 camshafts or similar. Like the idea of possibly going w/ the OEM CV40 carb & parts & also using the stock MM ECM if I can. Saw the thread " ran into a guy who made it much simpler by retaining the factory MM ECM and allowing it to handle the ignition duties". How do I contact this person w/ that expertise? 99' FLHRCI August 2024
