That stuff is supposed to have a pretty good reputation, (unlike Kreem) however, you never know what the prep was like unless you prepped it yourself. I guess the best stuff is the 2 part epoxy coating by caswell plating, but then again, there is the prep...
Yeah have to say whoever redid the tank did not properly prep it.. My liner has been chipping away for ears and was going to redo it but said f it.. Still no problems. Just never store the bike with an empty tank..

I'm in the same boat. The factory liner started chipping/pealing about 3-4 years ago. I removed the tank, emptied it, rinsed multiple times with Dawn dish soap and water so I could get it to the dent ding guy (he did a fantastic job on a ding from previous owner) and even found a few dings I was not aware of. He's a freakin miracle worker.
Anyways, when I got it back I noticed some of the factory liner flaking. Might have been from him working out the dents, or from age, who knows, who cares. Added a length of 1/4 copper tubing to an air gun and started blasting with air in the tank thru the float hole. Got lots of the old liner out. Even used a bottle brush to scrub inside the tank and more air. A few gasoline rinses and installed.
Nothing in the tank filter/screen since and I have done yearly spring checks since. I keep the tank full in the winter storage months with alcohol free fuel and some marine grade stabil.
I did the red kote thing on my ironhead years ago. Then had to redo it when it eventually started peeling with Caswell's epoxy gas tank sealer. Was NOT a fun job getting all of the red kote out of that tank.
Now the liner in the Road king is starting to peel. Damn these tanks. We put men on the moon in 1969 but we can't figure out how to keep a gas tank liner from peeling.

Honestly my tank liner's been peeling for at least 10-12 years but I really don't give a s***.. it can peel as much as it wants to,as long as it doesn't leak I'll be happy..
