Three of the four motors in the garage have adjustable pushrods in them. The one that's not had them before being restored to stock. It's getting the SE heads, 10.5:1 pistons at.010, and the V-Thunder 5005 cam and see what that runs like. It had the SE heads and the same cam with the previous owner, but stock pistons. I'm bumping up the compression and adding a Supertrapp exhaust and removing the Propipe.
I'm also considering running a 5005 in my 96" and pulling the Wood .631 lift cam and see if I like it. I have a couple of others laying around in the 575-600 lift area but the duration is a bit higher than I want.
I honestly need to sell the 113" I have as I don't see running it anytime soon. It runs good. I just built the 96"ER and I'm happy with it. Oh well...
Will adjustable push rods come out of a 1996 Dyna 80 without pulling the rockers? I want to get into the cam chest and oil pump, and I plan to go through the top end later, but I don't want to do that now. So since this is my first experience with adjustable rods, do they collapse enough to come out without pulling the rockers?
All I know is that I was told it has an Andrews cam (#27 likely?) and adjustable push rods.
Some do and others do not. You may as well find out the easy way - remove the lock of the front exhaust, twist the covers (makes them come loose easier) then slide the lower up, look/take a photo and post it. We can tell you what you have.
My experience is that the H-D adjustables do not retract enough to remove (figures!), but most aftermarket ones do.
As I recall, mine has Competition Cams adjustables. Quiet valve train, and almost never need to touch them.
