I talked to the shop selling it and they got it at an auction so there is no history on it, that scares me. I was thinking I could buy this and have something to ride while I work on my shovel. The shop told me it was serviced and ready to go but so did Motonit where I bought my shovel and he lied about a number of things. Buying things can be a mine field.
Thanks for the video.

Careful, the windscreen has a tinted coating on it so no polishing out a scratch or it will look like doo doo when done. Cee Bailey used to make an exact copy windscreen of better quality than OEM materials, (they manufactured airplane canopies) but they stopped making them for our bikes then got bought out.

The clutch is good for stock motors. More problematic was the pre-94 front pulley sprocket set up. MoCo changed that out in 94 to a stronger set up. The other thing to pay attention to is the rubber mounts. When they are new and adjusted correctly, with the 28* rake, the bike is a joy to ride. When the rubber mounts get old, fail, sag, get out of alignment, then you have vibrations and wobbles. The front goes fast because the oil from the oil filter changes drains on it and breaks the rubber down. If replacing the front, then replace the rear, align it properly and enjoy.

Nice bike to ride, plenty of power in the stock form, but with the right cam, exhaust, air cleaner element, and a rejet, it will really wake her up. It's convenient to do a quick toss on of some bags and a windscreen, or run naked with out. It's not a bagger, and it's not a sporty, it a nice "inbetweener".

I'm gonna keep mine, I have no good reason to replace it.
When changing the filter I first punch or drill two holes to drain it and direct the oil into a pan with a Form a Funnel, way less mess and oil on the motor mount that way when you remove the empty filter...just did one yesterday on my Sportster so fresh in my mind.

That's a great idea for removing the filter.
What about installing the new one? Do you fill it with oil before installation (thereby still making a bit of a mess)? I know some engines are not at all tolerant of starting with a dry filter.

I think I got the idea here of punching and draining the filter first...
I don't bother filling the filter first and so far so good, the engine quiets down very quickly after firing up...plus the bottom end has roller bearings and they are more tolerant of a momentary lack of oil pressure IIRC.
But that is just my experience, I don't know if that is a bad idea...FWIW my HD FSM doesn't say anything about prefiling the filter.

At that price it would sell over here in under a minute. EVO Harley’s sell easy here.

Sorry- but punching a hole in the filter is a quite old and well known function- the funnel kit i bought from china 15 years ago comes with a spike to punch the filter- and ive been doing it on my trucks hemi motor since i bought it.
Sorry to burst your bubble guy..
And remember- on evos- the filter is on the RETURN side of the oil circuit- not the FEED side where pre filling is important- so pre filling a filter on an evo is not really required.

I just reread your post- the way you typed it left it a bit ambiguous- if you would typed ' i learned about punching a hole in the filter here'... that would make more sense.
But- i can admit if i made a mistake....so i apoligize if i upset you.

And thanks for the replies, especially the info about the filter being in the return circuit.
