I think they mean the style that have three positions. Slide the switch left to turn on the left signal, same with the right turn signal, and it stays there until you slide it back to the off position in the middle.

It's been some years, but seems like he said they were "push on/push off" sorta like the old style dimmer switch in the car floorboard. Or, a flashlight button - push it to turn it on, push it again to turn it off.
Too many people have said "latching buttons", no idea what you area talking about. Someone have a picture to educate us?
Yep like the old hi beam switch. Push to turn on, push again to shut off.
It's easy to forget to shut them off. You gotta look at the indicator light every now and then to remind yourself.
Plus if you forget to shut one side off and press the other side on it confuses the system and none of them flash.
They work like a rocker switch. Push one side of the switch and the flasher goes on and stays on until you push the other side back down. One side bumps out a little to make it easier to turn off and on. This is the best Pic I have.
It is from this video.

My 1973 Honda CB350 had turn signals that stayed on when I pushed the button. Not self cancelling, but at least you didn't have to hold the button down. I love Harleys, own four of them currently, have been riding them for well over 30 years, but sometimes you have to wonder. 🙄
.
I think non self cancelling signals on a bike are far more dangerous than having to hold the button on.
