Yep, the EV27 gave me a little more whine. Not real bad but I was on here asking a lot of questions about it. Sort of scared me but found out it is normal. But if it is really loud, check the gear mesh. You may have to have your old gear pressed onto the new cam. And go to Andrews web site...they will tell you what years it will fit and general instructions on installing it. Now another thing you might want to look into it S&S's oil reed valve. It helps out the crankcase oil pressure. The reason I suggest it is because you have the cam cover off anyways. If you have the money do it and then you are done. It helped in stopping a lot of oil blow by for me.
I,ve got a EV27 in my 1995 Road King with 10.1 screaming eagle cast pistons runs great. I just switched to daytona twin tech single fire ign. that made itsound and perform better.
If you folks like the EV-27, you would be head over heels in love with the Bob Wood 6, especially with either a re-surface on the heads or pistons. Must have done at least 70-75 of these over the years. Some clients have reported as high as 54 mpg's.
They'll hang around 80 hp and 90 ft/lbs. Smooth power.90/90 if an 8 grind is used.

That's what's going in mine right now -- Wood 'Knight Prowler'W6. Had the heads shaved, too. Both ideas were suggested to me by my indy mechanic when I mentioned the EV-27.
The only thing wrong with it will be that I'll be getting the bike back with two more months of winter to look forward to [:'(]

Do you have compression releases with that set up? I just did the exact same pistons with an EV46 cam in my 1993 FXSTC. I put about 4 miles on it and pulled the heads back off. Compression releases are being installed now. The starter couldn't crank it very well.
You should not need releases with that set-up.
Perhaps the timing couldbe off a touch?
Well some people claim I need them some claim I don't and everyone claims they have the experience to know for sure, so I don't really know who to beleive but I can tell you with the compression releases it starts just as easy as stock. [/align]
