Can anybody help? The Harley book shows the 9 spoke wheel used in 2000 and later to fit the rear on my '98 FLSTS but notthe front. They sell frontsfor that year but excepts my Springer. I work in a machine shop so if anyone can tell me what the issue is with fitting this wheelI may be able to take care of it.
I am not familiar with the springer front wheel.I am not sure butithink front wheels on most models went to a 1" axle. But I have put 06 streetglide wheels on my 1990 eglide and 6 spoke wheels from a 07 Streetglide on a 99 Roadglide. I issues I have had is the different bearing sizes and the spaceing. both my bikes have the speedo cable to the front wheel and no one makes one so I had to cut the existing one to fitand cut a spacer for the left sideto center the wheel in the center of the forks.. changed the 1" wheel bearings to 3/4" wheel bearings and that was that. If you work in a machine shop you should have no problems. I found in J&P a bushings kit to run 1" bearings with a 3/4" axle. http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup...All&page=2
Thanks for the response. I know about the axle size and also needing to change spacers. The Harley catalog does show the wheels for a '98 but says "except FLSTS". I am starting to think I will need to get one of the newer model wheels and measure both wheels to see what the difference is.
