I've got a 98 FXSTC and want to get the fork sliders chromed. Rather than chrome the pair on my bike, I've noticed that I can get a complete set of Custom Chrome chromed sliders for a cheaper cost (including all seals and bushes). Now, I've only ever bought Harley accessories because I find their quality is always top notch and I can get them very cheaply from the USwhen I compare the cost to what we pay here in Australia. My question is this - what is the quality like for items from Custom Chrome?
It's been my experience with CC that fitment is somewhat "spotty" with more major parts. I replaced the lowers on my 92 FXDB with H-D chrome replacements, rather than having the OEM ones chromed. It was a simple swap and everything went together without a hassle. I'd go with H-D on this one.
Harley_Dude, nice bike. I've got the lazer red / vivid black combo. I've added a bunch of chrome stuff (but nothing to the motor - don't want to trap the heat!). I fitted the HD Deuce style indicators - boy does that clean up the front and rear ends. Looks great. I've been watching EBay for a while now but haven't seen any HD chromesliders for my model bike. There are plenty on there for the 07 models (and bloody cheap too), but I haven't seen any for mine. Guess I'll just keep looking. I've got about 5 months before the winter really sets in here so I have a bit of time up my sleeve.
