If your bike handles fine up front I would not worry about changing out the springs.
There is always room for improvement! I have just bought progressive-rate fork springs, which are supposed to improve the ride up front. Mine are Hyperpro brand, an alternative being Progressive Suspension Inc.

Thanks for the advice here, as I am about to remove my forks and fit the new springs.

final notes:
when installing new seals -
1-use the OLD seal as a cushion against the NEW seal when tapping the seal in with the PVC pipe.
2-lightly oil the front end pipes so the seals will slide in easier.
3-make sure that the PVC pipe is perfectly flat and smooth. rubbing on the floor works if it was cut straight.
4-before starting buy NEW allen bolts (they are metric) for the bottom WITH washers.
5-before starting make sure you have made the tool to remove the above allen bolt.
6- the PIA part of the whole job is that dam allen bolt on each side..i have had to drill the head off in the past because it would not give.then with sliders off just use pliers to remove..
7-make sure that the metric allen tool is of very good quality and consider using an impact wrench..you will NOT be able to torque(max. force) the allen bolt OFF more than once or twice before it will strip. something like the SEARS hand impact wrench with correct adapter for allen bolt.
8-do not scratch the legs because then your seals can leak..might want to put a bit of tape on your hammer.
9-as mentioned above..leaving tubes on bike would require less number of hands...might want someone arround when you hammer just to steady bike on the stand.
10-finally do not leave the beer you moved from refrigerator to freezer longer than 15 minutes. and never touch the beer you removed from freezer with bare hand..allways grab with paper towel or it will freeze.

Good idea, I never thought of that. But I think i would prefer to loosen the two bolts on the tree and do the whole job on a bench.

To reinstall the bushing there is not a special tool. just get a piece of pvc or pipe that will go over the slider to tap them in.

Very easy job to do. The that holds the two pieces of the shock together is a allen and is metric. I do not remember the size.
True, but being a bagger, it saves alot of work by leaving the tubes in the trees.

size of bottom bolt is 6mm allen head I ground the l off and used a 6mm socket and 3/8 impact gun . grinding the wrench took the longest.
