My indicator light for the left hand blinker wasn't working this morning. The right side worked fine and the left side was flashing. About half way through the left side started flashing again. The bike is a 98 evo RoadKing. Anyone ever seen this before?
nope but you got to check your light bulb receptical for rust. make sure your wires under your fender are not worn through and grounding out. check to make sure all your lights are not burned out. In general if you have and indicator problem it will be in one of these areas.
bulb socket is the ground.Sometimes they will become loose from vibration. Its a one wire setup.Check the socktet for tightness and if loose or slips around on the base, try putting some silicone on the outside of the socket once you tighten it.I chased a similar problem for months.
Did the LH signal work but not the dash indicator or were both out?
Are your LH running lights working and not the LH turn signal?
If you have running lights it is probably a bulb heading South or a corroded socket - dual filiment bulb. If a dash lamp is intermitentit's probably socket corrosion as well.
Good suggestions so far .... please clarify a bit.
Both turn signals work and parking lights work (as seen from the front or rear). The left hand side indicator was not working (dash light in tank console). It started working again by the end of my ride. I had just finished a rockerbox gasket repair so my tank console had been removed and layed back.
Now that I know each dash indicator is a seperate bulb, I have a pretty good idea what happened. Thanks for all the help.
each dash indicator bulb is seperate...most times they are not burned-out..just need to wiggle and reset in place..
remove the screw and bolt that hold console to dash..carefull / cover tank to avoid scratches and flip over..not to difficult to remove plug socket and bulb..be really carefull and cover tank with large towel..if you need bulb the dealer has it and so do the auto parts stores...good time to change-out that plastic little indicator window the one with the turn signal arrows , neutral, hi-beam..that piece gets ugly over time.
