I had a friend do the same thing on his 87. He tied to go go bad with the electronic ignition and had the same results as you. It ran like SH*T for some reason. He went back to points also.
I'm running Daytona Twin Tec. Like it alot has different sound idleing more agressive kindalike the twin cams. Smother not sure how much could be msd type spark control.
