Default Throttle & Idle cables

Anybody know if throttle & idle cables are the same fitment, only different lengths between models ? Will Sportster cables fit other big Evo twins of the same age ? Loads of Sportster parts in UK.

I just put a carb from an '06 street glide on our '90 Ultra and it looks like the throttle cable is OK but the travel with the older idle cable is too short. I was surprised because the specs in the sales catalogs show them having the same travel, I even wonder if the cable that was on it is the correct one. There are different total lengths and different travel lengths ( elbows may have different angles) , if you happen to find a model that is similar it should work. You could check a catalog that lists different models , lengths, elbows and travel ect. My guess is you either need to try a particular cable or know someone that did, but they are not all the same, although they may all hook up the same.

I was surprised how similar the 2006 CV carb was to the carb on our 1990 Ultra.

I found out the 2006 cables would not work with the older '90 controls. The older cables fastened with threads the newer apparently use some type of clip. I don't know what years they changed.
