Einstein, type "slipper clutch" on a search engine such as google. Not all synthetics are created equal. IF the synthetic oil you ran in your primary ruined it ,it must not have been designed to handle that duty.Oh,by the way, slipper clutches are standard on high output rice rockets.T

Einstein, Take that rice rocket crap somewhere else. This is a Harley forum.

Toby, My above response was not that I do not know what a "slipper clutch" is, but rather the topic. What the heck does a "slipper clutch" have to do with what we are discussing?

The topic is primary oil. Not rice rockets, and not Buels, and not Sportsters. Just big twin primary oil.

Stay on the topic!

I was tryimg to explain that the amsoil 10-40 is designed to handle this task, comprende! Therefore it should easily handle a basic harley clutch!

So what you were trying to say is that because Amsoil 10-40 is good for one clutch, a totally differant clutch the slipper clutch, that it must be good for all others? The topic is Evo Big Twin oil for the primary.

Whatever Toby, Think what you want. Your name calling is not appreciated, and I would not want you to start threatening people on this post as you have in past posts. I would prefere not to have this post locked out.Comprende!

Dang, sounds like I need to go out in the shop and drain the Amsoil out of my primary before it scatters or something. Been using it for a couple of years and it has lived through a bunch of power shifts (yanks the tire off the ground with fresh tread on the rear and spins a worn tire, slipping clutch won't make the *** end squirm around)and general ripping around for the last 14,000 miles.......naaaahh I think I'll leave it in there,I'm a poor boy and I kinda like the added security of having something in all three holes that works so well. Of course it's basically stock so maybe I'm not really putting it to a REAL test.

Don`t worry about him Lakerat,he has a reading comprehension problem. The 10-40 is recommended for the HARLEYclutch and others as welland he`s so full of himself that he cant see it.I`m quite sure there is a pretty good percentage of members herethat are running this and other synthetic oils in there primary and have had not one issue.HE had a problem so no-one should run syn. in their primary as he thinks. He can run corn oil in his for what I care but he should not make statements deterring any one else from using the syn. products `cause of his bad luck and not knowing the limits and or usefullness of a certain product.I said in post 18 to contribute to the subject at hand and as usual it got twisted into an arguement saying syn.is no good.Probably why more posts aren`t answered sometimes than would be because of arrogance and ridicule that sometimes follows.I don`t go through life with blinders on but it`s obvious that some here do.The oil in your bike is great and will perform for many miles.Run hard and cool bro.Toby

Why experiment with oils? Simply use what Harley recommends and be sure you have the right stuff in the bike. Synthetic oils are great but not for an older high mileage bike. Petroleum and the biproducts of combustion forms a sludge that is trapped against seals. Synthetic runs very clean and will clean off that small amount of sludge. Then you can have leaks as the sludge actually helped the old seal stay dry. Harley's Formula oil for primary/transmission is good for 10K miles or one year. Fossil
