Hi ,it sounds like a common problem in a few models. I just bought a 1991 Fatboy \\; from the original owner \\; with \\; just over 10,000 \\; original miles. when the bike was loaded up it apparently started right up. After we unloaded it , the starter turned over with lots of power , but wouldn't fire.
The cables were all tight , a new \\; battery \\; charged right up. \\; Now it \\; just clicks. There is a recall on the starter relay , \\; and 30amp breaker . \\; so I'm getting that looked.
what else could it be? very frustrated........ \\; bike is mint....... \\; and I'm missing \\; ALOT \\; of \\; riding
\\;The Cables and starter relay is the way to start but i think if the 30 amp fuse is bad it wont click there would be no power to the relay or starter.... One step at a time
I have a 1988 heritage that has done this off and on for a few years now. \\; The bike has been modified to except a 1991 starter and has a 1991 inner and outer primary. \\; I have found that if I jump 12v from the battery to the starter to spin the starter briefly, the starter will engage and the bike will start when I push the start button. \\; I am not sure how to check the jackshaft alignment but I think \\;that might be my problem.
