Default cylinder stud torque

Does anybody know what is the torque for the new design cylinder studs (the ones with the shoulder down)?
I mean the studs themselves into the cases, not the head bolts...

&nbsp\\;once the shoulder bottoms out the torque setting is of no value I never used a torque value on these new style studs I'd inslall them and bottom them out&nbsp\\;

Not really - there's some new stuff manual doesn't know about, like these studs for instance: they are of the new design and have the shoulder down. Thus, you can torque them, unlike the original shoulder-up design, so manual says nothing about it. If the manual knew friggin everything, we wouldn't have performance books and forums like this

Custom shop told me 12 ft-lbs - sounds reasonable ...

I&nbsp\\;recently installed the shouldered studs on my EVO, and installed the shoulders down (into the block). I just bottomed out the stud, and then gave it a good tug to tighten it.
&nbsp\\;
I was looking at the Clymer manual a few weeks later, and noticed that the diagram showed I should have installed the studs with the shoulder up. The mechanic at the HD dealer confirmed what I saw in the manual. Oh well, too late.
&nbsp\\;
I'm not sure why you would need to torque them, but I'll listen.

The original factory studs up to '96 I believe, were installed shoulder up.
Then the stud design was changed, so all the new studs (even the ones you get from HD) are installed shoulder down - they talk about it in the EVO rebuild video, they just don't say anything about torque.

Don't forget about using a ball bearing in the head nut when trying to get that torque, it works real well. Imagine, I learned that from a service manual, not a forum or custom shop and it worked
