 \\;I live in the country and there's a straight run of new \\;two lane \\;highway with very few cars on it, Ive had the bike at 100 for 8-9 miles or so with no problems at all... I only did this once but i do cruise home on this highway at 75-80 ... no problems at all on my 99 evo softail.
FWIW,
I have a 93 FXR with an 85" Revolution Performance kit @ 10.5 to 1, ported SE heads, V-Thunder EVL-5015 cam &\\; lifters, S&\\;S Super E and assorted other goodies. This engine still pulls hard at 85 MPH in 5th gear. I'm in the process now of changing the overall gearing from 3.37 to either 3.15 or 3.08, haven't decided yet. Going with a 65T rear pulley instead of the 70 to decrease the rpm's on the Interstate. Checked the fuel mileage over the weekend and I'm still getting better than 40mpg. The bike is scheduled to be dynoed after Stugis when my Dyno guy returns.

Just suggesting that anything is possible with the right combination. Best of luck with getting her up there !
I've never tried to top-it-out but I regularly cruise at 65-70 and sometimes 75 before vibrations become apparent....still plenty of throttle for passing at 80-85 when I need to...engine and carb is stock.
My '98 FXSTC will cruise at 90 all day long and with me on it it \\;tops out at 130. \\; Of course that Rev-Tec 6 speed might have something to do with it. \\; It is Dynoed at 167 MPH in 6th. the bike now has 87k and is a great ride.
The motor **** the bed last weekend. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Have no idea what is going on. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Taking it to the mechanic this weekend.
My 98 fxd with a stock carb will run 100 for an hour or so with no problems.It really smoothes out around 75 . \\; \\; \\;
