Default oil pump removal

well i tried the easy oil pump check ball repair, ofcourse it didnt work for me. i figure i need to lap my seat in. from what i have read i can take off the oil pump without removing the cone. i have lost the site that explained how toi do that but i remember that it said to make sure you dont push the shaft in after removing the clip. any info on this.

You can do it that way, but not pushing the shaft in is easier said than done. If you push it in, the keyway for the gear may pop out. I myslef would rather take the nosecone off.

well its always the hard way thats the way. i guess pulling it off isnt the problem, its putting it back on. guess if i hold the shaft and slip a rubber oring over it then slide it on to the oring then use a strong magnet to hold it that might work. at least its worth trying.
