Default Lowering question

Anyone lower their FLHT? I've seen the kits referenced below and some say you have to mess with the bags. What is the mod? How does the lowering effect handling? Any other advice?

Here's the ebay part....

Thumbs up

Well... I've got the White Bros kit (which looks exactly like the one you spoke of) on mine. Also, I've got a Progressive Suspension fork lowering kit (1.5") and slightly shorter jiffy stand (to account for lowering). I've raised my boards to the top holes, to provide improved cornering clearance.

I've been riding about 40 years, and had this FLHTCU for about 2 1/2 years (put 21,000+ miles on it) and it is a daily driver, 50 mile round trip comutes, 50% Texas Hill Country / 50% Austin city and I have to say that I love the way it handles. I've ridden non lowered ones too and while you can tell a difference, it's really not that big. The important thing was that being lowered wasn't a negative situation. Personally, I think it looks good, rides good and handles good.

Here's a pick of the rear mounts, and no, I didn't have any interference issues with anything.

Hope that helps!

1995 FLHTCU (today, being converted into a Street Glide)

And as it was when I got it

Got a set like that back in the spring on ebay for $49.00. Put them on the lowest
setting,(1.5") took it out hit a bump and the fender rubed the tire. Came home put
in the next setting (1") done fine tell I rode two up, hit a bump tire rubed fender.
I orderd a set of H D lowering shocks online from surdyke.com for $243.00 local steeler
wonted $275.00. The stock shocks are 13" on my 97 flhtcui. The lowering shocks are
12" . It rides and handles great.

In my case, no rubbing and that's was even 2 up (I'm 230lb and the lady is about 16lbs) when it was fully dressed. Occasionally, I could bottom out the shocks, in a dip, but the tire never rubbed. FWIW, fully dressed, I ran about 10psi up front and 20psi in back. Now, without all the dresser equipment (took off over 140lbs!) and riding only solo, I have it set at 5psi up front and 10pis in the rear.

As with any mod, YMMV.
