Default Service manuals

Looking to buy a manual for my 85 FLHT, question is are the Clymer manuals any good or should I just spring for a genuine Harley manual.

I've been told the same and that's what I'll probably do as well.

The 20 bucks I spent at the dealer has already saved me many hours, I vote spring for the HD manual!!!! I also ordered a new owners manual and the parts book. All were still available for my '87. The parts book gives you part numbers so you can order on line or surf ebay and it shows the relationship of parts to each other in an assy. Very helpfull if you are tearing into it or working on a basket case. Just my two-bits.

I bought the Clymers...the only problem is that my bike's year has a lot of addendum in the back of the book as it was added in after the original print. Other than that, I like it more than the HD manual as a lot of times it's a little more thourough. It's also arranged a little more like the automotive manuals which I'm more accustomed to. I still use both though.

Genuine H.D. And I recently bought the parts manual as well. Much as I hate to admit it, it's getting to where I need to know the part number and not rely on a dealer/aftermarket shop. You can get them from the online dealer places out of Chicago cheaper than your local dealer, but get the official shop manual. There is no substitute.

I have the original harley manual and part catalog for my 96 EGC. Best thing I have done. It has come in handy a number of times.
