HGM, my bike did the exact same thing. It would intermitantly cut out on me, then get going again. Finally stopped altogether about 50 miles from home. I coasted to a motel parking lot. I thought it was the module, of which I had a spare in my saddlebag. Didn't help. So I took my wife's bike home and came back with the Truck. My wife found some "helpers" in the bar and they helped me push it up into the Truck, no easy task with a dresser. The wire was broken under the cone inside the insulation down by the frame.
Working on cars, I can fix an intermitent concern.. But, on two wheels, I had a hard time figuring out how I was going to duplicate a concern that only seemed to happen at 50mph or more.... It was frustrating to say the least, I was actually releived when ut quit on me.. The funny thing, I was about 50mi from the house too...
Well I think I might of found my problem, I think its the ignition switch while its running I wiggled the switch and it kind of back fired all the connections look good but there seems to be a lot of play in the switch so do you think I need a new switch
I found the problem the dash was kind of loose and vibrating alot causing the ignition switch vibrate too causing it to cut out, when I took off the dash and test road it it ran perfect. I have had two wrenches tell me I needed a new ignition and one tell me it was the carb and it took a roofer to figure it out
