I have a '96 Electra Glide Classic with 113000+ miles. Last year I started to notice a squeak that seems to be from the handlebar when I remove my left hand. This only happens on the left side. Any pressure on the bar end at all stops the squeak. I have replaced the handlebar bushings, checked where the clutch cable passes through the fairing, all mounting and fittings inside the fairing. I have removed and checked the left grip and controls. It sounds like a vibration squeak, very rapid, eek eek eek, until I touch the left bar. Any ideas, this thing is driving me nuts and for me it's a short trip.
hey bikerdude,
Just a thought but I had a squeak that I couldn't track down at first on my bike and it was driving me nuts, I was convinced it was a neck bearing or something related, then a budy of mine told me to remove my frt brake pads and lightly smooth the edges a little. So I tore my caliper off and greased the slides and chamfered the edges and what do ya know it went away. Not sure if that is your issue, but thought I'd throw it out there. Oh and by the way it would only squeak when turning in one direction, right I think, anyway hope this helps.
