Default bad ground?

I just got my bike (88 FLHS) back from paint today and got it put back together. the gas gauge and both fender tip lights do not work. I assume that this is a ground issue. My question is how do I ground these with out scratching off the new paint? Or should I just bight the bullet and clean a spot that wont be seen?

Pic a spot on the frame under the tank and run a ground wire to it.

Default ground

one of the main grounding bolts is below oil tank by your three relays.that area is all covered by oil tank cover. I belive tip lights front and back are grounded there already.

There is only one wire gong to the tip lights, its 12V to the frame. I think I have to clean some paint off the backside of the fenders.

Try a star washer under the bolt that holds the light on. They can usually bite through the paint and ground the light.
