Engine cutting out on acceleration
Again, just throwing out ideas because my ears can't hear it and my arms can't feel it but from my experience tinkering and experimenting with CV slides, sounds like you're very rich in the middle and lean on the low (idle) circuit.
Lots of guys hate the Thunderslide and/or recommend against drilling stock slides. Thing is, not everyone is willing or can afford the time to tinker, tune and experiment to get whatever combination dialed-in. Sometimes things come together real easy - sometimes not.
But most anyone will agree - each machine has it's own personality, habits and quirks, most of which are the same and predictable, others defy explaination....
hang in there
PS - DO go up to a 45, even with the screw out 3, you can always adjust that down if need be....

He said to go with a 48 slow and a 185 main............and put the needle in #3. He also said to turn the idle screw 2.5 turns.
I think I might try this.
Also you had written:
"Also, if the kit came with the new pump nozzle (pedestal) the destructions tell you to aim it at the overflow pipe in the bowl. That isn't the best direction as it will spray and splash on the front side of the carb throat. Twist it toward the opposite corner to the bolt hole and it will spray directly at the needle giving a much better pattern..."
I believe I have it lined up towards the center of the opening (right at the needle)???
Is this what you meant?

48 is usually a little fat for the add-ons you have but you can trim that with the idle screw. And 185 isn't too bad, but you may lose the throttle response "zip" that is the thunderslide attraction. But then, you may end up in 2 groove with that, and have a real winner.
I certainly respect anyone with determination and patience - last word of advice; make changes gradually, one thing at a time (with maybe the exception of the needle position from 7 to 3 - 4) so that each modification or adjustment can be analyzed and consequent adjustments made accordingly

I took it for a short 5 mile spin (got up to maybe 50 mph) and it ran just fine. Seemed to have good response all through the rpm range and it had no pops or farts. Hopefully I'll be able to let her open on the highway today and see how she does.
Would you just read the plugs now to see if it needs another needle adjustment?
It is idling fine at 1000-1200 rpms. Would you mess with the mixture any more?
Thanks for all the help.
