Default Autolite spark plugs

I have no problems finding Autolite 4265 spark plugs, but none of the local stores had Autolite 4264 spark plugs. I did a cross reference for RN11YC on one of the web sites and it listed "Autolite 64" .

Is the Autolite 64 the same plug as the 4264? I am thinking they may have changed the numbering system.

thanks in advance

I don't have an answer but I have used the 4164's in my twin cam without a problem. I do know they are not the standard 5/8" but 11/16" instead.

Pajoe,
You are right. The first time I ordered 4264's and got a box of 64's I said WTF. Called the distribuitor and they said same plug, new numbering. I like Autolites because they have a broader heat range the Champion. We use champion to find out which heat range we need then switch to Autolites as champion usally has more plugs covering a broader heat range than the others.

UH - with egg on my face and not particularly eager to share it....

There is no 4264 Autolite plug. (typos?)

The 4265 is the same as 64, however the 64 has a loose nut on top, whereas the 4265 does not. They are the same heat range.

And I prefer Champion in any air cooled engine myself (except Jap bikes)

PS I got this info here: http://www.autolite.com/

#2 PS: The 4265 is one step hotter than the 64 according to the Autolite chart....

I'm too tired to be here and getting myself confused

There IS a 4164 plug for Sportsters and TCs

Here is that chart and maybe it'll clear up some things... goodnight.

Thanks again to all...

I like Autolite, and the 4265 were easy to find as every Advance Auto store had them out hanging in packs of 2 in one the aisles. I want to try the "Autolite 64" rather than the RN11YC. The Ultima motor manual lists the BPR6ES as being in the mid heat range, but most cross reference sites associate that with the Autolite 4263.

Right,we got 64's and the distrinuitor said they were what we ordered just a new number. Right now we are running the RN11YC in our 120 and it looks perfect for heat range up here with up to 105 octane.

Autolite, motorcraft are both goods plugs and Bosch too. I will never use Harley or Champion plugs again......
