That's understandable! Well done for surviving the experience. As an Avon fan I'll forgive you as long as you buy them again next time! In the meanwhile best of luck on your travels.

I really did like those Avon tires. They did an excellent job on the road and in the rain. Had I not been in the situation I was, I most likely would have stayed with them. I'll be paying attention to the dunlops to see how they handle and last. Have a nice tread pattern. Have to see how they handle the rain. Dealer said they are an excellent all weather tire.

I had no trouble finding Dunlop 491's this year, though I thought they were discontinued. I got over 20,000 miles on the last rear (MU90-16), and 26,000 on the MM90-19 front. I tried an Avon Venom rear once and got 15K, but it was showing the cord at that point. Plus, I do not believe that tire can be good in the rain, with its racing slick surface down the middle. I don't recall riding in heavy rain with it, but I slowed way down whenever it rained. Don't like the japanese tread pattern's looks either.
