hey wide.glad you got your speedometer problem fixed.we just got back from holidays in the u.s.funny thing happened.i got about 100 miles from home on the start of the holidays and lost my speedometer.so of course i figured my charging system again, but we got the speedometer checked in durango,co.turned out it was the speed sensor.so if you wouldn't have figured out your problem by the time we got back,i was going to mail you out my new sensor to try.i found out the one they sold me was wrong because we had put a 6 speed ultima in mine.the sensor i got is made for factory 5 speeds and knocks it out about 20 mph.o well a lesson learned.l.o.l.take care.

Thanks Uncle Bo for thinking of me!

Yes it is fixed! I have had no more problems with it. I think it was one of the connectors that had corrosion on it is what my problem was and the cleaning and applying of silicone dielectric compoundtook care of it.

Isn't his forum great? We all can learn from each other and keep our 2 wheeled passions going.

Thanks Again,

Mike

Mike,
My speedo crapped out today. Had to resurrect this thread.
Checking connections and the speedo sensor first.

no.
Charging system is good.
Accessory plugs are grounded.
All grounds are good.
All connections are clean, and I cleaned them again and dielectric greased them.
Changed trans oil, no filings
BUT the oil is milky (again). We had a wet spring and the oil change was due, so I wonder if the speedo sensor failed due to moisture in the oil?
New sensor on order.

Did ya try just removing the sensor and cleaning the end of it real good? Also! Look for frayed wires in the console. Sometimes when reattaching the console a wire can get pinched in there. I frayed the one that runs from my speedo to the reset switch on the left side of the console.
