Thanks for taking the time to post this bud. How would one know if the Venoms are reinforced or not? I think I'll stay on the safe side and go with the upper numbers.

The tire will have "reinforced" imprinted on the sidewall.

Thanks to all, I'll check the ones now on her and the spare set arriving on Monday. As GR showed my year/model bike comes up with the original specs. I've installed a 140 on the rear and swapped out the stock front 21" wheel to a 19" 90/100. With the 1" front Progressive lowering kit installed, the bike sits level now and not pitched up in the front.

That is not my experience with Avons. Having owned Harleys since the '70s I find I always go back to them. We just did 2,500 miles fully laden an a fresh pair and barely touched them - with my S&S 107 doing its best to push us along and keep up with much younger bikes! I've never run them to their last breath, preferring to start a new riding season on fresh tyres, but expect to get at least 10k miles from this pair.

Every tire will have good and bad stories. My experience with the Venom AM42 on my EVO was both. Good stick, borderline short life. No burnouts, replaced at 10.6k miles, probably 1k miles more than most would let their tires go. I liked the 14k I got out of my Elite 3, but I'm trying a set of Metz 880s now with mixed feelings.

For my bike solo pressures are 38F 44R for my FLHS and when I wrote to them Avon recommended using 2-4 psi extra for two up. When two-up and fully laden with luggage, I actually use 44F 50R. Max pressure for Venoms is 50psi.

I find only adding a couple of psi when two-up is not enough. The bike feels as if the tyres are soft, so using the upper end of the permitted range gives better results and the bike handles much better.
