Well it's that time again.......need to replace the tires. The last time I did the tires I decided to stay with the Dunlop stock wide whitewalls, and I plan on doing the same this time. Currently I am running the D402F MT90B16 72H on the front and the D402 MT90B16 74H on the rear. While doing some price checking online I see that Dunlop also offers a wider rear tire - MU85B16 77H. According to the Dunlop chartit is .31" wider than the stock MT90B16 74Hand has a 11/32 tread depth as opposed to a 9/32.
Here in lies the question - willthe MU85B16 77Hfit and opperate without any clearance issues (or any other issues) on an '05 RKC?
Joe, .31 should clear just fine....my SG has the same belt and swingarm as your RK, i went to a Metz 150 with air ta spare..it was about that much wider
Your gonna play h3ll trying to find a Dunlop tire....been looking for the past month.....Dunlop on
strike and most stealers donot have any in stock....no date either. Decided to go to Metzeler for
my EGC.....140/90HB16 77H for the rear. Tire should arrive 1/11/07....The 140/MU85HB16 77H
is the one that HD calls for the EGC. But if not available...go for what you can. Checked all the
info and ended up with the Metz.....it has the same load rating as the Dunlop (77H=908 lbs). Good luck on your search.
Oh one other thing...some stealers do have a few in stock but only available to their customers....no over
the counter sales. And I was told that from one of their sales guy at a local stealer establishment.
I had the 140 (MU85) on mine and the fiber belt guard just slightly rubbed the tire. Not enough to do any harm, it's just a fiber flap. It's an easy job to trim the flap just a 1/16 of an inch.
I am running it on my 99 with no problems! http://www.cyclegear.comhas them in stock $119 for black wall and $124 for the thin whitewall. I think it is $148 for the gangster whitewall. Hope this helps!
I have a 2005 EG Classic(Same frame, swing arm, sprocket, belt, etc. as the Roadking), and mine came with the MU85/16 tire, so I see no reason that it wouldn't fit with no issues.
Brian, my '07 SG has the MU85B16 77Hrear tire and its tread depth when new was 9/32. It's now at 7.5/32 after about 1750 miles, so it looks like it'll wear a bit less than the MT90B16 rear tire that was on my old RK.
Don't you mean 15/64ths instead of 7.5/32nds?!?!?[sm=badbadbad.gif]
