Return cable broke to day so need to replace.
Am not sure if cables were correct ones or not so looking for help in lenght.
A 1986 (1987) model FLST Heritage Softail with an S&S Super E. Looking at CC, VTwin etc, how do they measure lenghts? From nipple to nipple, from end to end on outer cable or what?
My cables were always a bit long so will probable get shorter, but if the say 33" long, what does that mean? (how long is a piece of string?)
If anyone has any ideas what lenght I should use, info appriciated.
Cheers.
Tony.
I have edited this because I want to give an example.
In the CC cat. the cable recommended for an flst 1987/89 is OE# 56324-81c 33" long.
On the Americian Legend web site the cable that replaces OE# 56324-81c is 37" long. See what I mean?????????????
I have the Jireh catalog loaded up here. They show a 56324-81c as having a housing length (cable sheath) of 32.5" and a 45 degree elbow bend of 5.25". So, I'd say that both those numbers are correct. They then show 3.5" of free length of actual cable sticking out the end of the sheath. They show the part number for the Barnett throttle cable to be 48-469 and the return to be 48-471. Those are probably their part numbers. jirehcycles.com. Their web site sort of sucks, but their prices make up for it. Dunno about shipping to Ireland, though.
